Chelsea Clinton to take Hillary's Senate Seat?!!

Just sayin'....If Hillary becomes Secretary of State, her Senate Seat opens up.....

Wouldn't it be great if Chelsea took her seat in the Senate?

Since Joe Biden's son, Beau, might take his Senate seat and since so many of the Kennedy's have joined congress - it makes perfect sense that Chelsea could be the next Senator from New York!!

Of course, Bill Clinton could also become a Senator!!!

The Wingnut Strikes Back.

Back in July, it was more than confirmed what a wacko Michael Savage really is when he decided to direct his angry rants at autistic children.  Well in case you were hoping that he went back under the big dark rock from where he came, sorry to disappoint - he's at it again.

During the November 18 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage said:

"You haven't seen any of what's coming in this country. You are going to see the wholesale replacement of competent white men, and I'm targeting exactly the group that's gonna be thrown out of jobs in the government. And I'll say it, and I'll be the first to say it, and I may be not the only -- the last to say it. I am telling you that there's gonna be a wholesale firing of competent white men in the United States government up and down the line, in police departments, in fire departments. Everywhere in America, you're going to see an exchange that you've never seen in history, and it's not gonna be necessarily for the betterment of this country."

Here's a listen if you feel like barfing a little.

Earlier in the segment, Savage said of President-elect Barack Obama:

"[W]hen you're socially promoted, you wind up as president of the United States. If you're socially promoted your whole life and nobody challenges you because you're of the proper constitution and composition and you look exactly right and no one's -- everyone's afraid to say a word to you, why, you then go to Harvard, you then go to the law review, you then get elected, you then get elected to the next level. This is what happens in a country that's intimidated by its own policies and its own fears."

During the presidential campaign, Savage repeatedly described Obama as an "affirmative action" candidate. And on his October 27 broadcast, Savage said that Obama "benefited from affirmative action, stepping over more qualified white men, I actually lost as a result of affirmative action, many times in my life. ... [W]e have America's first affirmative action candidate about to become president." and in February, Savage claimed that the Democratic presidential primary contest "is, or can be seen as, the first affirmative action election in American history." He added, "We have a woman and a multi-ethnic man running for office on the Democrat side. Is this not akin to an affirmative action election? Isn't that why the libs are hysterical, tripping over themselves to say amen and yes to this affirmative election vote?"

Media Matters also noted that Savage called "civil rights" a "con" and claimed that affirmative action stole his "birthright," and his "manhood."

There's only one way to describe this man's soul: UGLY

AG Mukasey collapses in speech!

WASHINGTON - Attorney General Michael Mukasey collapsed during a speech Thursday night and was being taken to a hospital.

Associate Attorney General Kevin O'Connor said Mukasey began shaking while addressing the Federalist Society at a Washington hotel.

My thoughts are with the AG.  I don't have to agree with the man to hope that he's alright.

Breaking: Citigroup goes into liquidation

Fannie, Freddie, AIG, Bear Stearns....they were really all just prologue.

Now, the truly ugly stuff is spoonfed to us...complete with weeks and months of spin to support it...to make the real crashing and burning look like it's supposedly just "business," when the reality is far worse.

Read about it right here: "Citigroup considering selling itself: WSJ."

After 2008 Election, Some States Want to Make Voting Easier; Others Determined to Make it Harder

Weekly Voting Rights News Update

By Erin Ferns

Following an historic turnout in the 2008 election comes a flurry of election reform agendas from both sides of the battle over voting rights. Since November 4, some state lawmakers have seized on the success of early voting and Election Day Registration (EDR) as models for facilitating voter registration, while others appear to have been threatened by the heightened turnout and inspired to introduce restrictive voter ID and proof-of-citizenship bills for the 2009 legislative session.

Following what appears to be significant progress this year in closing participation gaps among historically underrepresented young and minority voters, we review Election Day stories in states with voter ID and EDR laws, and preview next year's legislative battle for election reform.

Obama's BIGGEST GIFT to John McCain

Its a hot topic among political fanatics in Arizona. It was also discussed by Christopher Orr of the New Republic.
Pres.-Elect Barack Obama just gave Sen. John Mccain two gifts in the last two weeks. One of the gifts was a very big one.

First, Obama SAVED McCain's close friend, Joe Lieberman. Obama's message to the Senate Democratic of " I forgive Joe, lets move on" was big. It really pretty much saved Joe's neck. I'm sure McCain is very happy to see his dear friend Joe Lieberman escape this one.

Second, a huge gift for John Mccain.
President-Elect Obama just took out the one person who could have very likely ( in fact heavily favored) defeated John McCain in Arizona in 2010.
I am pretty sure the minute Governor Napolitano's pick was announced by the media, the entire John McCain Arizona team
had the biggest smile of the day.
Two head to head polls taken within the last 12 months showed Democrat Napolitano beating Mccain by a landslide double digit victory.
The Arizona Governors seat will also be difficult to hold by the Democrats. Our best hope would be Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford. If she runs, we have a very good shot of winning.

But McCain's seat would have been big !!!!

So many Arizona democrats were ready, excited & looking forward to knocking off McCain in 2010. That's too bad.

Challenging Ballots is Fun

Minnesota Public Radio has photographs of some of the challenged ballots in the Minnesota recount.  It's a good look at some of the challenges and a tiny fraction of the BS facing ballot judges in Minnesota.  The strategy of both camps seems pretty obvious:  Use any pretense to challenge a ballot so that the ones that are even a little questionable seem like reasonable challenges.  It's a battle of attrition.

And now:  Lizard People

America, Islam and Pejudice

I recently was contacted by someone that asked me to check out Whitehouse2.com. I was thoroughly impressed with the site because of the simplicity of the premise that it incorporated in its design. It was a simple, straightforward way to make your priorities known to the incoming administration. The beauty of the concept was that if you had a concern that was not listed, it is possible to add it to the list of hundreds of actions the Obama Administration could take to make sure it is following the wishes of the people. Of course, it is very doubtful that the administration will follow the intentions and precepts of the website, but if enough people were to participate in this unique way to further the concept of direct democracy. This is something that is within our reach with the advent of instant communication along with broad access to almost everyone, courtesy of the internet which has become a virtual necessity in this new century.

While the National Initiative 4 Democracy is my desired outcome in the quest for a direct democracy that operates on laws proposed and enacted by the people, and for the people, as our forefathers intended, the Whitehouse2.com is a good step forward. I discovered that there was a particular issue that was not included in the hundreds of other goals that people had submitted. I was going to write an article on the subject anyway, but on the site, I found a perfect opportunity to make my opinion known.

I want to preface this with the fact that I am not a religious man, I subscribe to no particular view in regard as to whether or not there is a God, and if there is indeed a power responsible for everything, which most major religions profess to believe. I reject all of the precepts of most of them except maybe the Buddhist philosophy which is actually more of a self awareness than a religion in the Judeo-Christian tradition. In my view, I compare the belief in Moses, Abraham, Jesus and Mohammad to be no more or less credible than the ancient beliefs in Ra, Zeus, Jupiter and Odin among many other supreme beings. I believe that there is no human on Earth that can state with certainty who or what God is, or what God wishes. I realize that any belief in a God or a religion is in my opinion usually  predicated on what society someone is born into. Unless one is a convert later in life, faith in any particular philosophy is usually a product of nurture, not nature. A belief system in some kind of supernatural being is the result of indoctrination based on blind faith rather than logic.
